The theme for this year’s programme was "The Key to Success"

The programme was sponsored by Specialised Exhibitions

This year saw the introduction of the Gold Pack Student Awards Programme to be run on an annual basis.

There were 97 entries of a high standard judged by a panel consisting of:

The theme for this year’s programme was ‘We have sought the perfect Package’

This year the awards programme reached new heights with a record number of 186 entries in Gold Pack and 36 entries in the Student Awards programme. Entries were of an exceptionally high standard. 1993 also marked the acceptance of IPSA as a Full Member of WPO. Winners of Gold Pack Awards were encouraged to enter their packs in WPO’s Worldstars for Packaging Competition.

PACSA Packaging Achiever Award for 1993 went to Peter Campbell, Nampak Limited.

A glittering presentation banquet with TV Presentation was held at the Carlton Hotel Ballroom with Bill Marshall as Master of Ceremonies.

This year marked the introduction of the FTASA (Flexographic Technical Association of South Africa) printing awards and the Out of Africa section. Two entries were received from Zimbabwe.

A change of venue for the awards presentation to the prestigious Gallagher Estate in Johannesburg proved successful. With professional facilities and personnel, a video presentation and dinner with Malcolm Gooding as Master of Ceremonies was held to honour the 68 winners in this year’s programme.

Once again the FTASA (Flexographic Technical Association of South Africa) came on
board and it was encouraging to receive many entries from countries in Africa in the Out
of Africa category.

207 entries were received and were judged by a panel of judges at the Assagay Hotel in
Shongweni.

Gallagher Estate in Johannesburg once again was the venue of a spectacular banquet with video presentation. Malcolm Gooding was again Master of Ceremonies and 79 worthy winners were presented with their awards.

The PACSA Packaging Achiever of the year award went to vivacious Di van Breda, marketing director of Kohler Limited. A deserving recipient of this award and well respected in packaging circles, she joins the elite group of previous winners namely, the late David Brown (Chairman of Nampak), Piet Neethling (group MD of Consol), Peter Campbell (deputy chairman of Nampak), Gill Loubser (editorial director of Packaging Review and Trevor Evans (group MD of Nampak)
