Expenses for the 1979 SA Gold Pack Awards amounted to R500.00.
1979 was the first year in which the awards programme enjoyed a presentation function of its own and were not simply handed out at speaker meetings or A.G.M.s.
The presentation dinner was held at the Newlands Hotel in Cape Town with Guest Speaker Dixie Dean, then Chief Executive of Institute of Packaging U.K.
